Let's Get Acquainted
Our story began almost 30 years ago...marriage is a journey and ours had many
twists and turns. God has blessed us in so many ways…here are the some of the highlights:
We each brought children into the relationship ...he had one and I had three. To add to all this new chaos, we filled three 20 yard dumpsters from gutting our first “old” home. As we were putting it all back together, we decided to adopt two little girls. Two years had passed in a blink...when the phone rang. We received a call asking us to bring a baby boy with special needs into our lives. What? I was in my 40’s...but, we knew God was moving, so we picked him up just hours after the call.
Fast forward, five years later, we sold our home and bought an old farmstead.
We converted and renovated the barn into a commercial building to house our new concrete countertop business. Yup, seven kids seemed like a fantastic time to start a new business...without health insurance.
All this leads us to now...the kids are all grown, we sold our business, packed up multiple moving trucks and moved from Wisconsin to Michigan into our “final project”... retirement. Most people choose warm weather and relaxation...we went a completely different route.
Our blog posts will journal our story, past and present, in more detail as we go. We’ll talk about our faith journey, family, renovations on a budget, gardening, cooking, homesteading...and one of my favorites...quilting! Plus, as time goes by, we make the decision to not just be a hobby farm. We are now the new home of Sugar Island Valais Blacknose sheep! I hope you’ll follow along as we share what we’ve learned and what we still don’t know!
